  • Childcare Center Celebrates 80th Anniversary: - For many Troy children who come from broken homes or families who cannot afford day care, the Sunnyside Center is the answer. Celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, Sunnyside is a non-profit childcare agency of Catholic Charities. It serves children who live in Troy neighborhoods with the highest levels of crime, drugs and poverty. – 4/16/05
     
  • Volunteers from Siena college in remembering 9-11 by volunteering their time to service at Sunnyside. Playground equipment and picnic tables were painted – 9/11/04
     
  • Bishop visits Sunnyside Center – Sunnyside will be hosting Howard Hubbard, Bishop of the Diocese of Albany and Sister Maureen Joyce, chief executive officer of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany. Sunnyside Center, an agency of Catholic Charities, serves children who live in Troy's highest crime-afflicted, drug infested impoverished neighborhoods. Children participate in day care, after school care and summer camp programs. Sunnyside works with these families and the children to help meet their needs and address their issues. Sunnyside has celebrated 79 years of service to low income families. – 8/13/04

  • An 11-year-old from Wynantskill Way, has been going to Sunnyside after school and in the summer for eight years. The boy said he has learned a great deal at the center and that he has practically grown up there. -- "I like Sunnyside because they treat you fairly," he said. "If you do something bad, they ask you why you did it, and they give you a chance to tell your side of the story."
     
  • A 9-year-old Ninth Street girl has been going to Sunnyside after school since January. Her father is in jail. She lives with her mother and her step-father. -- "It’s good because you get to play games and go in the reading room," she said. "When it’s really nice, we go outside and play."
